Specialty Import Distributing Company was founded in
1990 by sole proprietor Steven King.
After working as a broker for several Chicago distributors,
Steve decided that it was time to introduce Central
Illinois to a wide variety of import and American craft
brewed beers through a service-oriented company that
placed emphasis on retailers as customers. With
the objective to bring fine wines, specialty beers
and liquors into Central Illinois, Specialty Imports
has grown to providing customers with a diverse selection
of over 600 different kinds of beers, liquors and
wines. Currently we have four sales representatives
and four delivery trucks servicing our territories
in Bloomington/Normal, Champaign/Urbana, Decatur,
Granite City, LaSalle/Peru, Peoria, Quad Cities area,
Springfield, and many other surrounding communities.
As
a way to introduce the area to his products, Steve
was instrumental in starting the annual International
Beer Fest in Peoria, Illinois in the spring of 1992.
Today this event brings in over 5,000 people and is
now one of the largest one-day international beer
festivals in the country!
